Boating Safety Classes

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary offers a variety of Boating Safety classes that range from the most basic, on up to courses that cover advanced navigation.  These courses are offered at no cost to the public (other than the cost of individual course materials).
The Commonwealth of Virginia doesn't require its adult boat/watercraft operators to complete a boating safety course.  DC however, requires all those operators to carry proof safety course completion.  Without a safety course, your adventure will legally stop at the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.
A Boating Safety class will provide you with valuable insight on boating safety, and you may qualify for a discount on you boat's insurance policy.

Vessel Safety Checks

Our Flotilla has a number of qualified vessel examiners who'll perform a Vessel Safety Check for you at no cost.  This comprehensive safety inspection uses standards that typically exceed state and local requirements, and meeting VSC standards will allow you to boat with the confidence of knowing you and your passengers are aboard a safe vessel.  Contact us if you'd like one of these inspections.
